Collaborative features on netvibes

A Follower is a person on Netvibes that has subscribed to your public Activities and that is reading it directly from his personal page.

• Go to http://www.netvibes.com/public
• click on “me” menu
• “Followers”(top right column).

Alternatively, go to your private page > click on “contacts” in the top bar > “Followers”.

There are 3 methods of following a person:

1. On a person's Public Page, example http://www.netvibes.com/mauriz > click on his name in the top bar and then click on “add friend” button > under his profile picture.

2. When you are browsing your followers or someone else follower > (http://www.netvibes.com/charles/followers) > click on the “add friend” button

3. When you are reading the activities of a netvibes user (http://www.netvibes.com/charles/activities) click on “add friend” button near his profile picture.

You cannot remove a Follower. The more Followers you have, the more popular you are.

All your Public Activities (starring), statuses and Public Page.

You can share:

• your status
• everything you have publicly shared via the star feature, the Firefox extension or the star-it

• Click on Contacts
• Followers
• Select a Follower
• Click “Add”

The Follower will then appear in your Friends folder.

A friend is a registered netvibes user you follow.

• Go to “Contacts”
• Find Friends
• select an account
• enter your account details
• OK
• Select All/None/ Only netvibes users
• click on “Let's invite them”

• Click on his/her profile
• Add Friend.

The “Added” person is now a Friend contact on netvibes.

• Click on his/her profile
• Remove friend.

The person is now a Follower contact on netvibes.

He/she can view your Public Page and your public Activities but only you can modifiy your Public Page and comment on your Activities.

Once signed in, a Friend can interact with you via The Wall widget.

A Friend can also view your Public Activities and share as favorite items you have shared. Example: Go to a feed > click on the star ( Share as favourite) > select Public Activity > Add a comment (optional) > Add.

Your friend should see the shared item in your Public activities. He/she may now click on Share as favorite > select Public Activity > Add a comment (optional) > Add. Note: only your friend's comment will appear not yours.

• Click on Contacts
• Invite friends
• enter your friends email addresses - separate with a ; if more than 1
• type a message (optional)
• select a language
• Send invites.

Private Page & Public Page Within a social network:

• Click the arrow/share icon located on the right of the feed/ top of the widget
• Select 'Social networks'. NOTE: netvibes is mandatory.
• Click on 'Facebook' or 'Twitter'
• Connect
• Enter a message
• Click 'share'

To another person:

• Click the arrow/share icon located on the right of the feed/ top of the widget
• Select 'Send by email'
• Enter the email address. If more than 1, use a semi-colon (;) to separate the addresses
• Click 'share'

For yourself:

• Click the arrow/share icon located on the right of the feed
• Select the 'Read later' tab
• Enter a message
• Click 'Share' - the feed will saved to your Private Activities/timeline folder.

Within a social network:

• Scroll over the tab
• Click on “Edit”
• Select “Share this tab”
• Select 'Social networks'. NOTE: netvibes is mandatory.
• Click on 'Facebook' or 'Twitter'
• Connect
• Enter a message
• Click 'share'

To another person:

• Scroll over the tab
• Click on “Edit”
• Select “Share this tab”
• Select 'Send by email'
• Enter the email address. If more than 1, use a semi-colon (;) to separate the addresses
• Click 'share'

• Select “Share this tab”
• Select “Publish on your page”
• Click 'Copy'
