A SmartTag is more than just a tag, it contains both a description and a sentiment (similar to a label and its color in Gmail). It is, in reality, the way an opinion is expressed. For example, when at Starbucks, you say “this Coffee is too sugared” or “this lemon pie is delicious”, “coffee” and “lemon pie” are the tags and “too sugared” and “delicious” are the sentiments attached to those tags. When you combine them, they express your opinions about your Starbucks experience. Another example is in providing deeper clarity for words with multiple meanings. If a cup of coffee is tagged with “Price” do they feel it is “expensive” or “cheap”? In Netvibes, SmartTags contain both the tag and the sentiment/meaning, so we can also consider SmartTags to be opinions.
