If you have a simple “Mentions” app with only one entry. You can select “My Chart is Updated”.
If you’ve created the potion from the app settings that you want to use as the trigger the “Analytics App” and “Series” sections should be filled out automatically. Otherwise, you can select which app and which series in that app you want to use for the trigger.
The option of “Select Forecast Value” is set to “No” by default. Setting this option to “Yes” will mean If the forecast value meets the rest of your trigger criteria, the potion will trigger.
Next you have the “Include” option. By default, “Only the new chart value” is selected, then you can choose, “Is Greater Than”, “Is less than”, or “Is equal to” in the Content Section and select the value for that trigger.
If you Choose “Chart Values from the past X days” you will be presented with a number of different configuration options below. To illustrate, let’s imagine we are a software company monitoring our brand mentions on Twitter and we set the "Include" option to: “Chart values from the last 4 hours”. We then have the following options to set a trigger.
You need to wait until the end of the time range you set in, “Chart Values from the past X days”. You can set the newest value to “is greater than”, “is lower than” or “is equal to” the value set at the end of this time range.
Example potion: A week from today, brand Mentions on Twitter are lower than 20.
You need to wait until the end of the time range you set in, “Chart Values from the past X days”. You can set the oldest value to “is greater than”, “is lower than” or “is equal to” the value set at the end of this time range.
Example potion: Seven days ago, brand Mentions on Twitter are lower than 20.
My Chart is Trending
You can choose “Upward” or “Downward”. The potion will trigger when the value is trending in the chosen direction for every unit of time specified in “Chart values from the past”.
Example potion: Brand Mentions on twitter are trending upwards every hour for the past 4 hours.
Check “Chart is changing direction” to trigger when a series was trending in one direction and then changes to go in the other direction.
Example potion: Potion will trigger if brand mentions on Twitter in the last 4 hours started going down after trending upwards or vice versa.
You can set the threshold for the “highest value” or “lowest value” at the end the time specified in, “Chart Values from the past X days”
Example potion: After 4 hours, the highest value reached 10 mentions.
Option for is “is greater than”, “is less than” or “is equal to” X Percentage. Potion is triggered when percentage change occurs from one unit of time specified in “Chart values from the past” to the next.
Example potion: Brand Mentions on Twitter increase sharply by 10% from one hour to the next in a 4 hour period
