What potions can I create with "Compare" apps

Compare apps have there own trigger in Netvibes’ Dashboard of Things. For more on compare apps click here: http://blog.netvibes.com/drag-and-compare-the-future-of-adaptive-analytics/

Choosing “Two series intersect” will default to selecting the two series if there are the only two series available. If there are more than two series in the comparison app you must choose which two series you want to compare. From there you have the option to choose whether or not you only want the potion to trigger if the intersection value is above or below a certain value. If you select nothing, the potion will be triggered every time they intersect.

Choosing “Two series are updated” allows for a little more flexibility. Let’s take an example of a software company with a MisoData compare app that compares sales actuals to sales forecasts. Lets also assume “Sales Actuals” is first series and “Sales Forecast” is second series. Some potential configurations are as follows:

Include: Only the new chart values

Position: Default

Absolute Difference: is greater than 10

Result: Potion will trigger every time either “Sales Actuals” or “Sales Forecast” is 10 sales higher than the other series.

Include: Only the new chart values

Position: First series is above the second

Absolute Difference: is equal to 10

Result: Potion will trigger every time “Sales Actuals” is exactly 10 sales higher than “Sales Forecast”.

Include: Chart values from the past 7 days

Position: Default

Absolute Difference: is greater than 10

Result: Potion will trigger every time either “Sales Actuals” or “Sales Forecast” is 10 sales higher than the other series. This is useful for MisoData apps using data sources that are updated infrequently in batches; the potion will still trigger when data for a date in the past is added to the chart today.  Keep in mind that if either is consistently over the other, the potion will continue to trigger.

Include: Chart values from the past 7 days

Position: First series is above the second

Absolute Difference: is greater than 10

Result: Potion will trigger every time “Sales Actuals” is greater than 10 sales higher than “Sales Forecast” for the last 7 days

No other parameters: will trigger the potion every time the two are updated.
